Raking in the Garden

Purpose
To provide gentle physical exercise, encourage focus and sequencing, and connect participants with the outdoors. The rhythmic motion of raking can be calming and purposeful.

Materials

  • A lightweight rake
  • A designated garden or yard area with leaves, soil, or gravel
  • A basket or container for collected leaves/debris
  1. Prepare the space
    • Choose a safe, clear area of the garden.
    • Place the basket nearby for collected leaves or debris.
  2. Demonstrate slowly and silently
    • Hold the rake with both hands.
